I would add Chicago's Larry Edwards (Biograph) to your specialized honor roll. The common thread was that all of these owners had such good taste and key venues s highly sought by specialty distrubution that any title they booked opened with the implied benefit of importance.

I was aware while writing of many leading exhibitor/owners I left off. Chris & Bob at the Music Box back then. The Orson Welles in Cambridge. David Levy & Ron Goldman in DC. Lots of others.

Larry (a competitor) was for a brief time in that position, but only was first run specialized for about 6 years; the Biograph was repertory before that then he sold to Cineplex. Strong run for a while, but not for the length of others.
